The U.S. Agency for International Development, the Santo Domingo Chamber
of
Commerce, and the World Environment Center are pleased to present:

"Cleaner Production in the Caribbean: Promoting and Implementing
Cleaner
Production Projects at Manufacturing and Tourism Facilities"

This conference will be held May 7 and 8 at the Melia Santo Domingo.
Caribbean businesses, governments, and NGOs interested in cost-effective
waste minimization are invited to attend. Presentations will be in
English
and Spanish with simultaneous translation.

Cleaner Production is a means of improving industrial productivity
through
implementation of good housekeeping practices, recycle and reuse of
water
and materials, recovery of industrial byproducts, and process
modifications.
Implementation of Cleaner Production results in reduced production costs
associated with energy, water, and material use.

The purpose of this conference is to discuss ways that Cleaner
Production
can be utilized in the Caribbean. We will present case studies of
Cleaner
Production projects at hotels and manufacturing facilities and present
discussions of how Cleaner Production can be achieved in the Caribbean
region, including discussions regarding the needs of the Caribbean
region
and how policy and tax incentives can promote Cleaner Production.
