Caribbean sustainable development organisation launches website
The Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI) launched its new
website at www.canari.org on 1 August 2002.
The website provides background information on the Institute, its
approach and operations. It contains a publications list, with
documents available in an easily downloadable format. Other
publications can be ordered. The site gives an insight into the
services that the Institute provides and every two months will
profile one of its current projects.
The site has been established to improve access to the publications,
reports and general information produced and disseminated by CANARI.
It will also provide a means of sharing lessons from its research and
analysis. Finally it will keep partners informed of upcoming
activities including news of workshops, conferences and seminars.
Ms. Gillian Cooper, Associate Director at CANARI and coordinator of
the development of the site said: ģIn addition to providing
information on the Institute the site is also one of the few sources
of readily accessible reference material on participatory natural
resource management in the Caribbean. CANARI is grateful to the
colleagues who provided feedback and suggestions during its
constructionī.

which are equitable and sustainable.
CANARIķs programme comprises research, analysis and advocacy on the
methods and institutions required for participatory management.
Themes include sustainable livelihoods, protected areas, capacity
building and resource monitoring. The Institute focuses on forestry,
